Christopher M. First DMD, MD

Dr. Christopher M. First is a Diplomat of the American Board of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery. He received his bachelor of science in Biochemistry from the State University of New York at Binghamton. His dental school training was completed at Temple University in Philadelphia. Dr. First also completed Medical school at the University at Buffalo School of Medicine while completing his Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery Residency Program.

Dr. First is a member of several professional organizations including the American Dental Association, American Association of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgeons and the Suffolk County Dental Society where he serves as a delegate from Smithtown. Dr. First also serves as the leader of the Port Jefferson Study Club and is a member of the Smithtown Study Club.

Dr. First is an experienced Oral and Maxillofacial Surgeon with hospital appointments at St. Catherine of Siena Medical Center and the North Shore Surgi Center in Smithtown NY. His areas of interest included Implants, Bone Grafting, Pathology and Orthognathic Surgery.

What made you choose dentistry as a career?

I have always loved science and working with my hands creating things. Dentistry lets me do both everyday.

What is your philosophy of dentistry?
How do you want patients to feel when they leave your office?

I would like to practice the most up to date techniques in a comfortable environment. I would like them to feel comfortable and relaxed.

What do patients get from your practice that they would not getsomewhere else?

The team approach to health care.

What do you like most about dentistry? What do you like least?

I like the ability to instantly change someone by either relieving pain or correcting pathology. Dealing with insurance companies is my least favorite thing.

What are you interests outside of work?

Dr First likes to play Hockey, Golf, Fishing, Scuba Diving and Wine Collectin when he is not performing Oral Surgery.
